elastic wrist

snap snap snap at the skin

I spend days

Building solid walls

Full of concrete

Sturdy by repetition

This is not my first structure

I’ve built around you

But here you come

Seven words softly spoken

Crashing down every barrier

I’ve ever built

How do you manage

To sneak in every time

Like you belong here?

You do not pay rent

You do not pay attention

And all I ever do is pay
